We stake out the patio footprint, confirm the dimensions and edge treatment with you, then excavate to the correct depth. The depth depends on the base material required — rushing this step causes pavers to settle unevenly later.

Base Installation & Compaction
Gravel base goes in and gets compacted in layers — not dumped all at once. A properly compacted base does not shift with freeze-thaw cycles. This is the step that separates a patio that lasts from one that needs reset in five years.

Paver Laying & Pattern
Pavers are set in your chosen pattern starting from a defined straight edge or centerline. We check level constantly as we work — corrections after a section is laid take significantly longer than getting it right as each row goes in.

Edging, Steps & Borders
Edge restraints are set, steps are built if they are in scope, and border cuts are made for a clean perimeter. This is where the patio transitions from a pile of pavers to a finished structure.

Sand Joint Fill & Final Cleanup
Polymeric sand is swept into the joints and activated. The patio is blown off, surrounding areas are cleaned of base material and equipment debris, and we walk the finished space with you before leaving.
