LANDSCAPE PLANTING SERVICES

Landscape Planting Services in Lexington, KY

A plant can look perfect at the nursery and struggle six months later in the wrong spot. We select and install plants for the property's light, soil, drainage, mature growth, and the way you want the landscape to feel.

A Plant Can Look Perfect at the Nursery. The Property Decides What Happens Next.

Sun, shade, soil, drainage, and mature size decide whether a planting settles in or spends the next season fighting the site.

Orlando's Landscaping has served Central Kentucky since 2001. We help Lexington homeowners choose plants for the conditions already present, space them for the growth ahead, and finish the bed so it looks intentional from day one. The Foundation Planting Install shows how plant selection, spacing, bed preparation, and the finished mulch layer work together to create a cleaner front-of-house result.

WHAT HAPPENS BEFORE THE MULCH

The Planting Is Only as Good as the Preparation

Fresh mulch can make almost any bed look finished for a week. What happens underneath it determines how the planting performs after that.

We confirm what stays, remove or replace plants when needed, prepare the bed and planting holes, and place each plant with mature growth in mind. After installation, we finish with mulch, clean the area, and explain the watering and aftercare the new planting needs.

The estimate changes with plant quantity, installed size, variety, access, digging conditions, removal work, and the amount of bed preparation required.

GROWN AND SOURCED WITH PURPOSE

Plants We Know Because We Grow Them

We do not know plants only from a catalog. Orlando's Landscaping grows many of the varieties used in our projects on our own property.

Our growing inventory includes Emerald Green and Green Giant arborvitae, Little Gem, Emerald Green, and Green Mountain boxwoods, Taxus, hydrangeas, and multiple hosta varieties that prefer shade. Those are only a few examples. We supplement our inventory with plants from local providers and Clover Farm in the Northern Kentucky and Southern Indiana region.

When layout decisions still need to be made, start with landscape design. Shade, ornamental, and specimen trees belong under tree planting, where drip irrigation is often included to help newly planted trees establish. Arborvitae rows and living screens belong under privacy tree installation. Existing beds that mainly need a fresh surface layer can move directly to mulching.

Highly recommend this landscaping company. They redid our mulching and installed five arborvitaes in our backyard, and everything turned out great. The crew was hardworking, detail-oriented, and made sure the job looked clean and finished before they left. You can tell they take pride in their work. We’re very happy with the results and would definitely use them again.

Landscaping team

We have used Orlando's Landscaping for our landscaping and lawn mowing and trim for several years. They are the best and very easy to work with. They have removed trees and planted trees and several bushes. Every recommendation has been great. Orlando has a talent for how the mulch beds should look and where new plants should be placed. We receive comments on well our yard looks and have referred them to several of our neighbors.

SERVICE OVERVIEW

Landscape Planting Questions

What's typically included
  • A property walkthrough and practical plant-selection guidance
  • Plant sourcing, placement, and mature-size spacing
  • Bed preparation and clean installation
  • Finishing mulch, cleanup, and aftercare guidance
Do you help choose the plants?

Yes. We provide practical plant-selection guidance based on sunlight, shade, soil, drainage, mature size, seasonal interest, and how much maintenance you want. Projects that still need broader layout planning can begin with landscape design.

What kinds of plants do you install?

We install shrubs, flowers, perennials, ornamental grasses, boxwoods, hydrangeas, hostas, Taxus, and other foundation plants. Shade trees, ornamental trees, and evergreen screening rows use their dedicated service pages.

Do you grow your own plants?

We grow many plant varieties used in our work, including several arborvitae and boxwood varieties, Taxus, hydrangeas, and shade-loving hostas. We also source from local providers and Clover Farm in the Northern Kentucky and Southern Indiana region.

Are bed preparation and mulch included?

Yes. We prepare the planting areas before installation and finish the new planting with mulch. The exact preparation depends on existing plants, bed conditions, access, and the approved scope.

Can you replace existing shrubs and flowers?

Yes. Replacement work fits this service when the bed structure still works and the main scope is removing and replacing plant material rather than rebuilding the entire landscape.

Do you install trees and privacy screens?

Yes. Shade and ornamental trees are handled through Tree Planting, while arborvitae rows and living screens are handled through Privacy Tree Installation. Keeping those scopes separate makes plant size, spacing, equipment, and aftercare expectations clearer.
